The Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Blogs website was launched with the intent of providing faculty members and students alike a platform through which they may be able to share their thoughts on a wide range of topics and showcase their writing within the broader community. Authors who wish to submit a piece of writing to the blog’s site are requested to adhere to the below guidelines.

Topic Selection:

Topics should be informative and appeal to a broad readership. They can be directly related to the subjects studied at Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah or be relevant to current/ongoing events within the community or in the world at large. Controversial matters such as local, national or international politics should be avoided entirely. When formulating topics, the writer should choose avenues of thought and research that would be beneficial to the reader in religious as well as temporal aspects of life.

Language:

Since this platform is meant to engage with the broader community, the language used should be of a high calibre befitting the stature of Aljamea, yet readily understandable. Verbosity and bombast should be avoided in favour of clarity and brevity. The use of specialist vocabulary and jargon should also be avoided as far as possible, and in instances where it is deemed necessary by the writer, sufficient explanation and clarification should follow. Currently, only English language submissions are being considered for publication.

Transliteration: (need to decide which system to follow. I suggest the .edu system). Let’s go with 75 since this is generally for a mumineen audience.

Word count:

Submissions should range from 800 to 1000 words.

Images:

The writer should provide 2-3 good quality images that are relevant to the topic of the submission. Images must be lawfully obtained and should not infringe on any copyrights. If the image features a person or several people, the writer must have permission from that person or persons to share the picture for publication.

Submission:

Before submitting a piece of writing to be considered for publication, writers must ensure that it is free from all grammatical and formatting errors. References and citations must be clearly marked, and the piece must be free from plagiarism. Submissions can be made in Google Doc or Microsoft Word format via email to blogs@jameasaifiyah.edu. PDF files will not be considered.

Revisions:

If there is a need for revisions or amendments, editors may reach out to writers with constructive feedback along with a revised timeline for re-submission.
