Sadaq Allah 14

Friday, 30th Rabīʿ al-Awwal 1435H

He (Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA) was our leader, our refuge, and our guiding path. He was the Dāʿī Muṭlaq (unrestricted missionary) — a glowing lamp. How frequently did his Imam grace him with blessings and favours, both evident and hidden. When faced with hardships, how often did he (Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA) instruct Mumineen to supplicate with the following verse composed by his father Syedna Taher Saifuddin:

“If ever you desire relief from difficulties and hardships that trouble you, then call out: Ya Ali!”

His courtyard was a Kaʿba for the learned. The pursuit of knowledge is prone to difficulties all of which he resolved for the seekers of knowledge. Faith itself beamed delightfully because of him and due to his counsel a number of people took to the path of guidance. How immense is the victory of those who sought his happiness, and how absolute is the depravity of those who perished as a result of their disobedience and the hatred they harboured for him. He was the greatest personification of all that is good, and an eminent manifestation of blessings. In the realm of knowledge, he brought forth evident signs, and within the domain or prestige, he took on the most onerous and challenging of endeavours. Honourable both in his lineage and his personal accomplishments; magnanimous in his generosity. He was the fountainhead of blessings and the deliverer from distress. Diplomacy and policy weep in his absence, instruction and counsel mourn his loss, and institutions of learning lament his passing.

Alas, what an enduring tragedy, an unceasing pain, and an unrelenting regret! Hearts are ablaze in perpetual agony; eyes tear incessantly. Is there anyone else like our beloved Moula in acquiring complete perfection? Does anyone resemble him in his exemplary conduct and character? He was our leader, our support, our treasure and our pillar: one the likes of whom no pious woman shall ever bear again.

He was Wali Allah’s ready and present proof; he (Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA) was his all-observant eye. He was the resplendent sun of the rightly-guiding Du’at and the shining light of the unparalleled Hudaat. The attributes of his honour and perfection are beyond enumeratio. He is our beloved Maula, Syedna Abu al-Qaidjohar Mohammed Burhanuddin. May Allah prolong the life of his ḥamd (praise) for Allah, the Exalted, and his Salawaat on Nabi Mohammed and his progeny until the day of Qiyamat.

He chose to ascend towards Allah’s eternal abode on the luminous day of Friday. Hence, how could the Fatimi Jawāmi’ — al-Azhar, al-Anwar and al-Aqmar — not remember him? He strengthened the foundations of these blessed jawāmiʿ thereby raising the minarets of the Ahl al-Bayt, possessors of renowned virtues. Thus, due to these endeavours, blessings spread far and wide as was desired by Allah, his Walī (Imam al-Zaman) and his immaculate Dāʿī.

O, what a devastating calamity this is! How harrowing is this tragedy! The pens of scribes falter from putting this calamity in writing, and the wordsmiths’ fingers tremble in shock from the distress of this tragedy. The remembrance of his devastating loss renders the most eloquent of tongues speechless, while the recollection of this tragedy causes eyes to shed not tears but blood.

For this is the loss of one whose stature — in the acquisition of perfect, radiant virtues — was unequalled. In knowledge of the faith particularly, and in all other fields in general, he was a tempestuous ocean and a torrential cloud. His share from the radiance of the Pillar of Light surpassed that of all its other beneficiaries, and he was the most favoured with the holy gaze from the blessed eyes of Imam al-Zamān. His generosity and munificence were all-encompassing, and his charity and magnanimity embraced all those in need and without means. In a wide number of fields of knowledge and scholarship, many magnificent victories were revealed to him, and in his comprehension of the intricacies and subtleties of this knowledge, a number of magnificent fortuities transpired. Due to his endeavours in raising its minarets and revealing its brilliance, the Dawat of Guidance is at the zenith of jubilation and glory. He banished the disgrace of perversion from Dawat and in doing so, it became a clear and evident path for the emergence of knowledge and esoteric wisdom. At that juncture, the wishes of those who desired the fruition of previous Hudāt’s glad-tidings were fulfilled.

Aah after Aah upon him forever, without cessation or end. Indeed he was the beloved of the beloved of Allah’s Messenger (Imam Husain), the sovereign of the Martyrs, the Tyrannized in the Land of Karbala. He shed tears upon him incessantly and called upon the faithful to do the same. Indeed, he eloquently voiced what he felt in his heart in these following verses:

Weep with me, O My children of my Faith!

Only those mourn him (Imam Husain AS) who understand

Allah’s guarded secret

Whenever they are called to mourn

I will continue to weep upon you, my Maula Husain!

My tafādī (sacrifice) for you is eternal, my Maula Husain!

My Maula! My Maula Husain!

Day after day has passed following his absence, with each day renewing the pain and grief while tears teem down from the skies of our eyes like rain. Two weeks have now passed and the hearts and words of each devotee are characterised by the remembrance of Mohammed.

May Allah increase his sacredness and may he shower upon us his intercessory blessings and benedictions.
